Field Medical Manager, Nordics

In this newly established field-based Medical role, which combines strategic responsibilities with a strong operational field-based focus, you will have a unique opportunity to shape the future of AOP’s Nordic operations. Working closely with a dynamic cross-functional team, you’ll contribute to expanding the company footprint within the Health sector.

On behalf of our customer AOP - a European pioneer in integrated therapies for Rare Diseases and Critical Care – we are looking for a Field Medical Manager, Nordics. Location flexible within Sweden.

THE ROLE

Initially, your focus will be on products within intensive care. Gradually, you will also become increasingly involved in the therapeutic areas of Hematology and Cardiology. With a strong pipeline—particularly in areas such as Hematology and Polycythemia Vera (PV)—your responsibilities can be further expanded.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Leadership

-Serve as the internal medical expert in intensive care, providing in-depth knowledge of disease states, products, and clinical developments.

-Lead medical strategies for the region, ensuring alignment with the overarching company strategy.

 

Stakeholder Engagement

-Establish, build and maintain customer relationships with healthcare professionals, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and other stakeholders in the rare disease field.

-Represent the company at national and international medical conferences, presenting scientific data and insights.

-Build peer–to-peer relationships with healthcare professionals and institutions to establish and maintain a therapeutic leadership position. Rapidly disseminates recent scientific knowledge/data on AOP Health´s products in approved indications and future pipeline.

 

Cross-functional Collaboration

-Provide medical expertise regarding medical treatment/traditions in health environment to support and co-create customer actions with Key Account Managers, Market Access, Marketing, and HQ medical.

-Communicate KOL feedback on product development and life-cycle.

-Ensure that customer insights are transmitted to in-country teams and also, where appropriate, into the above-country medical brand team.

 

Strategic Development

-Identify unmet medical needs and opportunities within the intensive care area.

-Plan and execute advisory boards, educational programs, and scientific events to foster stakeholder engagement.

 

Compliance and Insights

-Capture and analyze insights from external engagements to inform strategy and product positioning. 

-Ensure all medical activities comply with local regulations and company policies.

 

Advisory board and other scientific meetings

-Spearhead all scientific meetings in the Nordics.

o  Provide quality scientific presentations at internal and external meetings.

 

Medical Information

-Respond to unsolicited requests for medical information

 

Therapy Area Support

-Be internal scientific/medical expert advisor to other staff members, conduct medical/scientific education and liaise with global/EU+ medical team.

-Support to marketing, Sales and market access functions in product and pricing strategies.

-Support the implementation of medical strategies through active participation at meetings, local congresses, implementation of medical education initiatives, and panel discussions.

-Being responsible for local and Nordic advisory boards and play a lead role in those that address medical topics as a primary objective.

-Provide local support for Regulatory Affairs, Drug Safety, Medical Information as appropriate.

-Provide support for KAMs and other medical training as required.

-Establish and maintain effective collaborations with European Medical Team.

 

COMPETENCE REQUIREMENT AND ABILITIES

-Minimum 5+ years of pharmaceutical experience as an MSL/Medical Advisor/Medical Manager with customer facing experience or similar role, with minimum a master’s degree in Health Science field (MD is preferred, but not required).

-Experience in cardiology and/or intensive care is an advantage but not mandatory.

-Be able to handle several different therapeutic areas.

-Strong oral and written communication skills with a strong capability to understand and effectively communicate scientific and clinical information.

-Ability to work autonomously to organize and prioritize one’s own work schedule.

-Fluent in Swedish language and English, both written and verbal. Beneficial to have proficiency in an additional Nordic language.

-Willingness to travel extensively – primarily within the Nordic region, but also to some extent to the headquarters in Vienna.

-Experience working in smaller companies is an advantage.
