Business Unit Director, Nordics

For our client Sobi (Swedish Orphan Biovitrum AB (publ)), we are seeking a Business Unit Director (BUD), Nordics.

This is a rare opportunity to be at the forefront of launching a new pharmaceutical within rare diseases, across the Nordic region. As BUD, you will be responsible for establishing, building, and leading the Business Unit for the launch and lifecycle management within lipidology/cardiology. The role requires exemplary leadership, deep stakeholder engagement, and an ability to operate strategically and operationally in a dynamic environment.

The pharmaceutical will first be launched within a very rare patient population with a high unmet need. Over time, the ambition is to launch within a broader patient population, unlocking a substantially larger market opportunity.

The role is Stockholm based at the HQ.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic & Operational Leadership

·       Lead the Business Unit (sales and marketing), to ensure a unified approach to customers and stakeholders.

·       Develop, own, and execute the country launch and post-launch strategy, ensuring alignment with European and global strategic priorities.

·       Translate strategy into robust operational plans with clear KPIs and disciplined execution.

·       Establish optimal Business Unit structure, OPEX, and FTE levels to support successful launch and sustainable growth.

·       Drive strong cross‑functional collaboration with Medical Affairs, Patient Access and the rest of the organization, ensuring aligned strategic planning, seamless execution, and a consistent external voice across all activities.

·       Ensure strong collaboration with Patient Access to secure optimal reimbursement and access in an area of high unmet need.

·       Drive sales force effectiveness, fostering a culture of excellence.

·       Data driven mindset, capable of shaping omnichannel strategy to drive SoV and create best in class customer engagement.

 

Stakeholder Engagement & Customer Excellence

·       Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clinical experts, patient advocacy groups, scientific societies, and market access stakeholders across the country.

·       Act as the face of Sobi within the therapeutic area in key customer interactions and represent the affiliate in global working groups.

·       Maintain a deep understanding of the therapy landscape, treatment pathways, and competitor environment for the indication.

 

Performance, Financial & Compliance Accountability

·       Full P&L responsibility for the Business Unit, including revenue forecasting and management of agreed OPEX.

·       Ensure delivery of sales, market share, and strategic KPIs.

·       Provide timely insights to the regional and global team regarding local market needs, competitor intelligence, and real-world operational dynamics.

·       Ensure compliance according to regulations.

 

Line Management

·       Recruit, develop, and lead high‑performing marketing- and sales teams.

·       Foster a culture of empowerment, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.

·       Assess capability gaps and ensure targeted development plans are in place.

·       Build a BU structure that positions Sobi as a leader in the therapeutic area domain for the specific indication/s.

 

You will report to VP & General Manager, Nordics and Baltics.
