FrostPharma is a fast-growing Swedish pharmaceutical company with a clear focus: to make high-value specialty and hospital medicines available to patients and healthcare providers. Since its inception in 2017, the company has successfully built a portfolio of +70 products across multiple therapeutic areas and established a strong commercialization platform throughout the Nordics and Baltics.
FrostPharma distinguishes itself through its ability to identify well-defined medical needs and quickly matches these with relevant products. Through its expertise in sales and marketing, the company can drive sales at high speed and precision. Growth has largely been made possible by intensive business development work - both through the in-licensing of new product rights and the development of own products. The next phase of the company’s development is focused on accelerating the growth of its product portfolio while expanding into additional European markets.
THE POSITION - HEAD OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Purpose of the Role
As Head of Business Development, you will play a central role in accelerating FrostPharma’s growth, with a strong focus on building a sustainable pipeline of new products and current products in new geographical areas.
The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution. In addition to leading and developing the Business Development team, you will actively drive selected product initiatives, partnerships, and transactions yourself. You are expected to have an holistic understanding of the full product lifecycle - from early evaluation and development through commercialization and long-term value creation.
Working closely with the CEO, CFO, CCO, and the management team, where you are a member, you will be instrumental in shaping FrostPharma’s future growth through product development, strategic partnerships, licensing opportunities, and M&A activities. The primary focus of the role is to drive product development initiatives, establish long-term in-licensing partnerships, and identify strategic acquisition opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead and develop the Business Development function with a systematic focus on generating and advancing new product initiatives.
· Actively lead the development of pharmaceutical products from concept until handing over to Commercial for launch.
· Ensure a structured and prioritized pipeline of product development projects, in-licensing opportunities, and M&A activities.
· Identify, evaluate, and execute M&A transactions, including product, portfolio, or company acquisitions.
· Establish and develop strategic partnerships to strengthen FrostPharma’s market position and future portfolio.
· Ensure high quality in due diligence processes across patient needs, commercial, strategic, and financial dimensions.
· Develop strong investment cases and robust business models to support decision-making.
· Collaborate cross-functionally with Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, Finance, and Commercial teams to ensure successful and efficient product launches.
· Drive follow-up activities and value realization from completed investments and strategic initiatives.
Strategic Focus Areas
· Develop the scalable and sustainable model for pharmaceutical product development.
· Establish a proactive and data-driven approach to opportunity sourcing and evaluation.
· Expand and strengthen FrostPharma’s presence in selected European markets beyond the Nordics.
COMPETENCE REQUIREMENT AND ABILITIES
· Proven ability to generate additional value from existing molecules through strategic lifecycle management and innovation initiatives.
· Proven leadership experience with the ability to build high-performing teams and deliver strong business results.
· Solid background within Life Science, with experience in pharmaceutical product development and a strong understanding of how to create additional value within an existing product portfolio.
· Proven track record in M&A transactions and/or pharmaceutical in-licensing activities.
· Strong understanding of the Nordic pharmaceutical markets, reimbursement and tender systems.
· Experience from commercialization of pharmaceutical products.
· Strong financial acumen, including valuation, financial modeling, and transaction structuring.
· Good understanding of regulatory requirements and market access processes.
· Experience from European pharmaceutical markets outside the Nordics is considered an advantage.
· Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Swedish language skills are considered an advantage.
