Financial Controller

We are looking for an interim Financial Controller on behalf of our client, a growing Life Science company in the clinical development stage, based in Stockholm.

This is a broad, hands-on finance role combining full Financial Controller responsibilities with Business Control. Working closely with the CFO and management team, you will contribute to financial reporting, planning and cash runway management, supporting the company’s ongoing operations and development.

Period: 7 months, start in November.

Scope: 80 - 100%

Location: Stockholm

Key Responsibilities

• Accounting & Financial Reporting: Take end-to-end responsibility for accounting, including invoicing, accounts payable and receivable, monthly and annual closings, reconciliations and financial statements.
• Cash Flow & Runway Management: Maintain rolling cash flow forecasts, monitor liquidity and perform scenario analyses to support financial planning.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budget process and recurring forecasts in collaboration with the CFO and budget holders, with particular focus on clinical programmes and external vendor costs.
• Clinical Development Cost Control: Monitor and accrue costs related to clinical programmes, CROs and external vendors, including milestone-based contracts and prepayments.
• Statutory Reporting & Compliance: Coordinate annual reporting, audits, tax filings and other statutory requirements in accordance with Swedish accounting regulations, including K2 and K3.
• Management & Board Reporting: Prepare financial reports, forecasts and decision-support materials in collaboration with the CFO.
• Financial Operations & Processes: Oversee payments, banking, foreign currency transactions and payroll administration through external partners, and develop and maintain financial processes and internal controls.

Your Profile

-We are looking for a hands-on finance professional with strong accounting expertise combined with analytical and business-oriented controlling skills.

-You bring solid experience in accounting control, financial reporting, business and cost planning, and cash flow management. You are comfortable taking ownership of the full accounting cycle and have practical experience working with Fortnox.

-You have a good understanding of Swedish accounting regulations, including K2 and K3, and experience preparing financial statements and supporting annual reporting.

-Experience handling international financial transactions, including transactions outside the EU, is also relevant for this position.

-You thrive in a smaller organisation where flexibility, independence and the ability to move between operational and strategic tasks are essential.
