On behalf of our client Bohus Biotech - a biotechnology company - we are looking for a Head of R&D responsible for the process development within manufacturing. You are based in the Stockholm or Gothenburg area - or at the site in Strömstad

Bohus BioTech AB is a Swedish biotechnology company with a long history of developing and manufacturing hyaluronic acid raw material and products. We are specialized in research, development and manufacturing of high-quality hyaluronic acid and medical device products based on this substance. Our products are sold via a network of distributors in numerous markets around the world. Our mission is to manufacture safe, effective, and reliable hyaluronic acid-based products that will help people to improve their quality of life.
THE ROLE
To support our customers and product portfolio Bohus Biotech is expanding our development services. We are establishing a new development organisation. To enable this, we are looking for a skilled colleague to Lead the development organisation and activities ranging from lab-scale development, Scale-up verification and full-scale qualification and certification. You will be supporting customer and technology programs with expertise in Hyaluronic Acid. You will be planning, executing, and reporting experiments to develop robust and reproducible production methods that can be validated. You are technically skilled and if you are experienced in establishing and troubleshooting Hyaluronic Acid processes it is advantageous. In addition to development activities, you will be supporting upstream and downstream processing work with expertise through Hyaluronic Acid raw materials all the way to final processing and sterilisation of finished product. Preferably you have experience from research and development in an industrial setting.
Examples of duties are:
- Lead manufacturing production process development programs
- Planning and reporting of experiment in writing
- Develop and troubleshoot protocols and methods
- Assessment of new technologies
- Analyse and report results from experiments
- Participate in process transfer to full-scale manufacturing
- Provide expertise within your field to other departments
COMPETENCE REQUIREMENT AND ABILITIES
You are motivated by leading development activities and working hands-on in the lab. Also, you are skilled in documenting and planning your work at the desk. You are self-motivated and can demonstrate high levels of creativity and enjoy finding solutions to complex challenges. Applicants must be able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
You will ideally have an academic degree within a relevant field or several years of relevant professional experience. Experience from Hyaluronic Acid is required, and English is also advantageous.
